When did she stop holding my hand? She would sit in her car seat in the front passenger side (which we did 20+ years ago) and we would hold hands....always. We would "hold on for the curves" and "hold on for the bumps".....and then those 20+ years fly by and now we find ourselves in the midst of planning a wedding.
The engagement took place last November down the street by the vineyard, very picturesque and though we knew it would happen, we didn't expect it THAT day! And, THAT day, we gained a future son-in-law. We could not have special ordered a more perfect guy! It was love at first sight for us too.
Weddings...big or small? here or there? who's invited, who's not? and now, this country or that? Lots of things to think about and consider as you plan events like this. List your priorities and get some advice, right? Keep your mind (and ears) open and your priorities in focus. Sounds easy but it's not. So, why doesn't she want to hold my hand for the "curves" and the "bumps"?? Have I not drivin her safely all those years? Goodness knows, I didn't always know where I was goin and I still don't but I thought we would do it together.....this big event...well, maybe not.
The "accident" has happened, so to speak.....
I wonder when it was exactly, that she quit holding my hand, telling me her dreams and stopped listening to my advice? Why are the words so sharp and no words so painful? I thought I could give some good advice, you know, so as to avoid the "bumps" and "curves" (having been there, done that).....
Well I was trumped by media...tv, magazines, that's the best advice, right?
It will work out, this big event and there will be more to come and she'll have a different hand to hold through the bumps and the curves.
Spring is just around the corner, right?? I'm gonna go pet my dogs now.....
